This Week the Charles Schwab Challenge
Held at the Colonial Country Club
7289 Yards Par 70
Ft Worth TX
The Defending Champion is Emiliano Grillo
In the TH Last Year the Charles Schwab Champion was Radar
This week the Tour holds one of it’s five invitational tournaments. The rules for entry are different which means it has a smaller field of around 120 vice the usual 144. This was known as the Colonial for many years and was first played in 1946 where Ben Hogan was the champion. In 2003 Annika accepted an invitation to play, becoming the first woman to play in a PGA event since Babe Zaharias in 1945. She missed the cut by four shots.
FUN FACT: It wasn’t lack of distance that caused Annika to miss the cut. She led the field in driving accuracy, was in the top 20 in GIR, 84th out of 111 in driving distance. Poor putting . . . last in the field . . . caused her to miss the weekend.
