The ladies second major.  This is a USGA Championship and was first played in 1946, where Patty Berg was champion.  This is the oldest event on the LPGA Tour.   This the only one of the five women’s majors to have always been recognized as such.  All the others were elevated.  This is the second time it has been held at Lancaster, the first was 2015, where In gee Chun was champion.   That was her first win, a major, on the LPGA Tour.

The first non-American champion was Fay Crocker in 1955.  She became the oldest player to win a major when she won the Titleholders championship in 1960.  In 2007, for the first time international players outnumbered U.S. entrants.  The next year In bee Park became the youngest women to win the event . . . just two weeks shy of her 20th birthday.

FUN FACT :  In 2020, this was the last major of the year as it was played in December . . . and for the first time ever it was played on two different courses . . . COVID . . . Kim A-lim birdied the last three holes to win.

FUNNIER FACT:  In May 2024, Hedge won the Spring Swing last week at Colonial. Many squirrels -lots of nuts!  Well done Mr Hedge!!!
