Is there really only one trophy

This week the PGA and LPGA join forces for more silly season golf.  A fun event that plays out over 3 days with three different formats.  Day 1 is a scramble so . . . low scores.  The second day is alternate shot and the final day is a modified four ball.   There is a $4 million purse and the winning score last year was -26  . . . for a three day tournament.  This is an opportunity, especially for the LPGA, to get a little publicity while having a little fun.  You will see more top women in the field relative to the men.  Just the second year for this event, not a lot of history or tradition . . . still the kind of event golf needs to maybe bring some new eyeballs.

FUN FACT:  This event replaces the QBE Shootout on the schedule . . . you remember, it was also known as the Shark Shootout because of the relationship with Greg Norman.  Not surprising the tour decided on a change . . . fyi QBE is still one of the sponsors.

Still not picking this week

This week’s topic is what is wrong . . . or right with golf these days

To get us started . . .

Met will get us started . . . Golf has a reputation for being elitist and a game for grumpy old people. We need to change that way of thinking – start with the kids. The same rationale could be used for all ages.  Sometimes – a lot of the time – the game is taken too seriously at all levels.

To all parents “Make it fun!”

Chime in . . . I know you all have an opinion
